We’re looking for an experienced full-time Technical & Certification Manager to join our busy Technical and Certification team. This is a pivotal role within our organisation and remote/hybrid working is possible.

The Role

The Technical and Certification Team manages Axter’s flat roofing specification and technical documentation library, system testing and certification programme in compliance with UK construction industry regulation and statutory guidance. The team provides resources, training and support that upholds Axter’s technical competency, keeping colleagues up to date with the latest technical developments and working closely with stakeholders to deliver quality-driven solutions and service.


Key Tasks

The role will involve joint leadership of the Technical and Certification team to deliver:

  • Axter’s technical and certification strategic plan
  • Technical excellence throughout the company
  • Strategic development and implementation of Axter's sustainability plan
  • Axter’s waterproofing system external fire performance testing programme and associated document management and control processes
  • Axter’s British Board of Agrément (BBA) Certification programme including maintenance of existing portfolio (quality plans, technical audits, technical reviews, certificate issue etc) and new agrément contract creation, approval and implementation
  • Axter’s FM Approval testing and certification programme
  • accurate Axter NBS flat roof system specifications on NBS Chorus and other Axter content across the NBS Source platform
  • Axter’s and our third-party supplier technical documentation library, ensuring data is regularly audited for accuracy, maintained and version controlled
  • CPD working groups
  • collaboration in the work of flat roof industry technical working groups
  • technical advice and industry compliance guidance notes, white papers and technical updates to the Axter team, our customers and clients


Skills and Attributes

The motivation to learn and expand knowledge is an important factor to succeeding in this role. We are looking for someone with a sharp mind and a curiosity for the world.

Excellent technical and organisational skills with an ability to lead a team within a joint leadership model in order to meet the strategic deadlines of the technical and certification function in the organisation. Also required is a strongeye for detail and a forensic approach to technical knowledge and comprehension. Previous relevant experience within the UK flat roofing industry or construction product sector is essential and we are ideally looking for the following:

  • construction and/or architectural/engineering related background and qualifications
  • a firm knowledge of flat roof industry fire regulatory requirements
  • a clear understanding of the NBS platform and its implementation within an organisation
  • knowledge of the maintenance, control and creation of BBA certification programmes
  • a clear comprehension of flat roof design calculations such as wind load, thermal performance, condensation risk, drainage and hydrology.
  • a keen interest in research and product development
  • an interest in industrial manufacturing processes and quality management procedures
  • confident communication skills at all levels
  • independent learning and teamship
